Sclerotherapy

Injection Sclerotherapy is the gold standard treatment for spider vein care.  The procedure is a series of injections that involves direct placement of a chemical (saline) solution within the vein that causes irritation and closes the walls together to create a seal. Shortly thereafter the vein no longer carries the blood and becomes invisible to the naked eye.

Spider veins, also known as teleangiectasias, are small thin veins that lie close to the surface of the skin.  Although these super fine veins are connected with larger venous system, they are not an essential part of it. They usually take on one of three basic patterns.  They may appear in a true spider shape with a group of veins radiating outward from a dark central point, they may resemble branch like shapes, or they may appear as thin separate lines.  Spider veins are best treated with injection sclerotherapy.
