Frequently Asked Questions

What is a facial?

A facial is a deep cleansing of the skin. Removing impurities and increasing blood flow can benefit the skin by improving the texture, tone and overall appearance. Facials are usually customized to your skin type.  Clinical facials use stronger products that can help with acne and aging.

Who performs the treatment?

A licensed aesthetician who is highly trained and certified in skin care performs your treatment.

Who should have one?

Everyone, men, women and pre-pubescent teens should have facials performed, with the exception of people using Accutane® who should wait 6 months after their last dosage.

How often?

Depending on what you are trying to achieve, every 4-6 weeks is the average

time between facials. If you are trying to correct a specific skin condition, you may want to come more frequently, such as every 2 weeks until the condition is resolved.

What should I expect during a treatment?

After the aesthetician brings you back to the treatment room, you will be instructed to remove your robe and lie on the bed under the sheets. The room’s lighting will be dimmed and there will be soft relaxing music in the background. You will be asked some questions regarding what you are trying to achieve, what products you are using, if you are on any medications, and if you have any allergies or ailments. Your facial will begin with cleansing the skin this will include the décolleté area as well as your face. Then the aesthetician will analyze with a magnified lamp. An exfoliant will then be applied and your eyes covered with soothing pads. Steam will be directed over your face to open the pores. During the steaming, an arm and hand massage will be performed.

The mask will be removed with warm towels, if necessary extractions will be performed to remove any blackheads or other impurities. The massage for the face, décolleté, shoulders will be performed. Once finished, another mask will then be applied to hydrate or balance the skin, then removed with warm towels. During the second mask, a scalp or foot massage will be performed. The appropriate skin care products will be applied. Afterwards you may feel extreme relaxation and may experience a little dizziness. Your aesthetician will review how to maintain proper skin care. You will be escorted back to the Place of Peace, where you can relax and wait until your next treatment.

How long does it take?

Depending on the type of facial it may be 30 minutes to over an hour.
