| What is Laser Photorejuvenation (FotoFacial RF™, FotoFirm RF™, FotoBody RF™)? The FotoFacial/FotoFirm/FotoBody treatments use breakthrough elos™ technology to treat and correct a variety of skin conditions such as irregularity of color (brown and red spots), poor skin texture, small veins, and other signs of aging attributed to sun damage. Through these services, TKI offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding patient satisfaction.
What kind of laser is used?
We use the Syneron Galaxy™ laser with elos™ technology. Like the Comet used for hair removal, the Galaxy uses a unique combination of bi-polar radio frequency and broad spectrum light and/or laser to get superior results. Using two energies instead of one creates more effective results.
Who is a candidate?
People who have skin imperfections caused by sun damage, age spots or uneven skin tone and texture.
Who is NOT a candidate?
How many times do I need a treatment?
For best results, a series of 5-8 treatments should be performed every 3-4 weeks.
Is it permanent?
No, but if proper maintenance is performed results may last as long as 5 years. Proper maintenance includes, but is not limited to, using sunscreen, keeping the skin hydrated, avoiding outside pollutants, and minimizing direct sun exposure.
Are there any professional maintenance treatments I can receive?
After the completion of a series, one or two treatments may be needed each year, along with appropriate skin care products and regular peels such as a chemical peel or SilkPeel™.
What do I need to avoid before and after?
Sun must be avoided at all costs. Due to the fact that we are trying to eliminate the damaged caused by the sun and other pollutants, exposing oneself to these hazards will cause the results to slow or reverse, therefore making the treatment less effective. Furthermore, laser and light treatments typically cause the skin to be more photo-sensitive and exposure to sunlight may cause burning.
Self tanners must also be avoided. Remember, light is attracted to pigment; so during these treatments, anything that can cause a change in skin tone must be avoided to optimize results. After the series is completed, self tanners may be used as needed. No Retin-A and/or high-level retinol products…These products are resurfacing agents and make the skin more photo-sensitive which may cause burns if used during treatment. Does it hurt?
There is some slight discomfort during the treatment; however, it is instant and non-lingering. For pain-sensitive patients, we can also provide a topical numbing cream to small areas of the body to minimize discomfort.
Is there any downtime?
After the treatment there may be some redness and some slight swelling. Topical calming gels and lotions as well as makeup can be applied immediately afterwards. A few days later, some darker pigmentation may surface. These will look like dark little freckles and will eventually slough off.
How long does the treatment take?
The actual treatment time is about 20-30 minutes depending on the area.
What should I expect during the treatment?
At your first treatment, you will be escorted to a treatment room by a technician or Concierge staff member. They will review your medical history, recent changes and any further questions you may have. After changing into a robe or removing the necessary garments, you will be instructed to lie down on the bed. The area to be treated will be cleaned and then covered in a clear cooling gel. A device that blows cold air may also be provided to ease the discomfort. You will be provided with protective eyewear that will be worn throughout the treatment. A few test spots will be performed to assure an effective and safe treatment. Then, several passes with the laser will be performed over the skin. After the treatment cold compresses will be applied to calm the skin, as well as appropriate products such as a calming mask and sunscreen.
Are there any risks?
There can be some side effects such as superficial burning, crusting and pigment changes. These risks are rare and are quickly resolved.
How is the best way to achieve maximum results?
The best way to maximize your results is by combining different treatments and using proper medical-grade products on a daily basis, along with superficial medical-grade peels during and after the FotoFacial treatment regimen.
What are the types of products that should be used after treatment?
Things to consider after treatment: Even though there is little downtime after the treatment, you may want to bring along a few items: Make-up, Sunglasses, and a Hat.
