About Our Presenters Jeanie Bussell, L.Ac. Dipl. OM., MSOM
Jeanie is one of the top acupuncturists in the Midwest specializing in the treatment of infertility and has helped many couples conceive. She is a co-author of Fully Fertile: 12-Week Holistic Plan for Optimal Fertility, published by Findhorn Press, available in bookstores nationwide. Her work with fertility and women's health has been featured on Fox News in the Morning and the CBS evening news with Dan Rather. Jeanie also has traveled around the country to study with leaders in the field of Fertility and Oriental Medicine, including interning with Dr. Randine Lewis, the author of The Infertility Cure; and studying and teaching with top holistic nutrition expert Paul Pitchford, the author of Healing with Whole Foods. She regularly gives seminars to the general public and to other acupuncturists about how to use Oriental medicine to address women's health.
Eve Feinberg, MD
Dr. Feinberg is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, and completed a three-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health. During residency and fellowship, Dr. Feinberg was given numerous awards for clinical research and she has published over a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. Additionally, Dr. Feinberg serves as a reviewer for Fertility and Sterility, one of the most widely read journals by Reproductive Endocrinologists. Dr. Feinberg has been recognized by her peers and patients as being an exceptionally compassionate physician and she takes great pride in providing outstanding, personalized care to each individual and couple. Dr. Feinberg practices at Fertility Centers of Illinois in Highland Park and Hoffman Estates.
Clare Sente, M.S., RD
Clare has been a nutritionist for 20 years, working with hundreds of adults, adolescents and corporations in the Chicago area. Her subspecialty is behavior modification. She knows as much about what motivates people to make healthy changes and how people trip themselves up, as she does about nutrition. Because of this she has developed an empowerment approach that achieves results. Clare is a Registered Dietitian and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition from Indiana University and a Master of Science degree in foods & nutrition from University of Illinois - Champaign. She has completed three certificates specifically in health coaching and authored a self-improvement book called, Finding My Marbles, about discovering happiness, true purpose, and trusting your intuition. Clare creates individualized nutrition and lifestyle programs for her clients that are balanced and sustainable for all aspects of women's health. She also teaches Latin based dance and Belly Dance classes for women. In 2009, Clare developed a series of educational programs for women called, The Diamond Series: Enhancing Feminine Brilliance. Topics include: fit over forty, full dimensional living, developing your intuition, speaking your truth, and creating mindfulness. Susan Lipshutz, LCSW
Susan A. Lipshutz, a licensed clinical social worker with an active Chicago-based practice for more than 20 years, brings a foundation in both Western medicine and indigenous spiritual practices to her work. For the past decade, she has focused on bridging cross-cultural traditions and contemporary culture to help individuals heal soul wounds, awaken hearts to self-love and acceptance and bring the mind/body/spirit systems into balance with nature. Deeply devoted to building strong communities that reawaken and integrate the divine feminine into daily life, Susan founded Everyday Medicine Woman, which offers programs such as monthly medicine circles and annual women's gatherings.
Her background and training include serving as the Director of Behavioral Sciences for the Family Practice Residency Training Program, affiliated with Illinois Masonic Medical Center and West Suburban Hospital; lecturing frequently on topics such as women's health issues and wholistic well-being; creating audio cassette tapes with guided meditations; participating in two shamanic Andean/Peruvian apprenticeships; and studying with Chilean medicine women and Mapuche ceremonialists in order to bring their healing traditions to women in North America. In addition, she has been a featured expert in Woman's Day magazine and is co-founder of Rainbow Journey, LLC, which sponsors ongoing training, ethno-spiritual journeys through the Americas, and apprenticeship programs in earth-honoring spiritual traditions and cross-cultural shamanic practices. Susan also has a private practice for integrative psychotherapy in River North.
Caroline Jung, MSOM, L.Ac
After graduating from the University of Memphis with an undergraduate degree in Psychology, Caroline moved to Chicago to attend the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. There, she received her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. Additionally, Caroline has trained with some of the most prominent teachers in field of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, including Dr. Richard Tan, and renowned Chinese Medicine women's health specialist, Giovanni Maciocia. Caroline has a special emphasis on treatments of women's health, digestive disorders, skin disorders, and pain management. Along with acupuncture, she incorporates tuning forks, a very-effective and non-invasive modality to promote balance and remedy discomfort. Caroline is a nationally board certified Acupuncturist and is licensed by the state of Illinois. She is also a professional member of both the Illinois Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Dee Davis, RYT
Dee Davis, RYT, is a registered yoga teacher in Hatha, Prenatal and Child Yoga. She is certified to teach pelvic health through the Women's Health Foundation as well as Resist-a-ball Yoga. She has attended workshops in various yoga disciplines, including ashtanga, anusara and vini yoga and currently studies therapeutic yoga under Gabriel Halpern. Dee teaches Hatha, prenatal yoga, and Yoga Ball classes in studios around Chicago as well as in her own home studio where she teaches private and small group lessons Her classes encourage students to become in tune with their bodies, while they strengthen, align, and most important, have fun.
Chef Jill Houk
Chef Jill's skills in the kitchen stem from the years she spent as a child cooking creative meals for her family. Although Chef Jill initially pursued a career in technology training and high-tech sales, she returned to the kitchen to realize her dreams of becoming a chef. After graduating Valedictorian of the Culinary Arts program at Kendall College , Chef Jill co-founded Chef on Call Chicago, now Centered Chef Food Studios , with partner Chef Ryan Hutmacher. Chef Jill functions in a business development and event-planning role, helping clients determine which Centered Chef services will help them meet their goals. Chef Jill also teaches healthy cooking classes to small groups and corporate organizations. In this capacity, she has worked with the American Academy of Periodontists, American Cancer Society, Deloitte and Touche, Energy BBDO, and IBM. In addition to her work at Centered Chef, Chef Jill is a media spokesperson, food stylist and consulting chef for Sara Lee Corporation. She has appeared nationally on Good Morning America (ABC), and locally on television stations throughout the country, including WMAQ-TV (NBC, Chicago), WGN (WB, Chicago), WJBK-TV (FOX, Detroit ) and KATU-TV (ABC, Portland ). Chef Jill is an active mother of a 10-year old boy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University and participates in endurance sports. She's enthusiastic about spreading the message of healthy eating to all communities, and is serving as Co-Chair for the Cooking Up Change Healthy Cooking Contest, part of the Healthy Schools Campaign. She is also a board member of the Downtown Chicago chapter of the American Cancer Society. Chef Jill has also been profiled as an "inspirational mom" in the book "All Moms Work: Short-Term Career Strategies for Long-Range Success".
Jen Dixon, CPT
Jen Dixon is a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor who has worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years. She is certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association - Personal Trainer® (NSCA-CPT®), American Council on Exercise® (ACE®) - Personal Trainer, and HealthyMoms® Fitness (Perinatal Fitness Instructor).
She founded You Grow Girl!™ Fitness to meet the "growing" demands of the pregnant and parenting communities of the Chicago area. Jen works with women who are expecting or already parenting, but does not limit her practice. She creates personalized and group training programs for women, men, and even children.
For the past seven years, Jen has been training primarily in downtown Chicago, north/near north Chicago and the Northshore neighborhoods, specializing in pre/postnatal fitness. She and her husband are the parents of two energetic daughters ages seven and four. Amy Johnson, Ph.D. Amy is a psychologist and life coach who helps women achieve a greater sense of peace in the midst of fertility struggles. She provides one-on-one coaching, teaches telecourses, and facilitates support groups. Her coaching is aimed at helping women make sense to what their body is telling them and listen to its messages, regain their passion for life, and to thrive in relationships. Women who have experienced fertility coaching with Amy say that it was the best thing they could have done for themselves during such a stressful time. After going through her own fertility challenges, Amy is now the mother of an infant daughter. Amy's coaching practice is featured in the upcoming documentary 'The Fertility Chase' which will air nationwide in May 2010. She is co-author of the book 'Changes of the Heart' where she writes about using challenges to transform our lives. Amy is currently writing a book about her own fertility issues and what she learned through the process. Amy lives in Chicago but works with women worldwide via telephone and virtual coaching programs. |
