What is a massage?
A massage involves rubbing or kneading the muscles, either for medical or therapeutic purposes or simply as an aid to relaxation. There are different forms of massage. The first is Relaxation Massage Therapy; this type of massage is targeted to de-stress and relax your entire mind, body and soul. The next is Advanced Body Work Massage. This type of body-work may incur muscle tenderness a day or so after treatment due to its deep tissue style of treatment. You may feel as if you've just worked out at the gym.
Who performs the treatment?
Highly trained licensed massage therapists perform all massage therapies at TKI.
What should I expect during the treatment?
After the massage therapist brings you back to the treatment room, you will be instructed to remove your robe and lie on the bed under the sheets. The room’s lighting will be dimmed and there will be soft relaxing music in the background. You will be asked some questions regarding what you are trying to achieve, if you are on any medications, and if you have any allergies or ailments. Your massage therapist will use either warm oil or lotion depending on your choice and begin the massage. Please feel free to direct the technician to areas that need more work and alert them to the pressure you desire. Afterwards you will be escorted back to the Place of Peace, where you can relax and wait until your next treatment.
How long does it last?
Depending on the treatment, it may last 30-90 minutes
Which massage is right for me?
Depending on what you are trying to achieve is how you should choose. Please refer to our Spa Menu to decide which you prefer. At the time of your appointment, discuss with your massage therapist what further options work best for you.
Does it hurt?
There may be some tender areas; and depending on the type of massage you choose, you may be sore for a few days following your massage.
Is there downtime?
No, you should be able to resume your normal daily activities immediately following your massage.
What are the benefits of this service?
Calming and de-stressing your body and mind can help you become more focused and relaxed. Massage increases circulation, allowing the body to pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, as well as stimulating the lymph system (the body’s natural defense) against toxic invaders. These physical benefits result in a healthier more productive body, mind and spirit.
